Need a Chromebook for Distance Learning?
Thursday, April 9, 2020 6:10 PM

Hello FAIR Families -

We have had a good start to Distance Learning this week at FAIR with students logging in and engaging with teachers!  We know that we have students who still need internet access and devices to fully engage - and we are doing everything we can to get students  what they need.

Critical to this is having correct contact information for you and your emergency contacts in our system - including phones and email as available.  Our Student Support Coaches have been calling over the last two days to speak to families to verify contact information so that when internet access points and Chromebook Devices become available, we can  contact you regarding delivery dates and times.

If you have changes to your contact information, please call us at our Help Desk Number 612-486-2350 or our main school phone number 612-668-1060.

MPS Device Distribution for Distance Learning

Does your student need a device for Distance Learning?

For students who still need a device or internet access, please call The FAIR School at our Help Desk Number 612-486-2530 or our main school phone number 612-668-1060.

Please make sure and leave a message with your request along with the following information and Speak Slowly and Clearly:

● Your student’s first and last name.

● Your student’s current home address.

● The parent/guardian’s best phone number where they can be reached.

● The parent/guardian’s best email address where they can be reached.

FAIR School Staff will then route this information to MPS District Communications for distribution routing.  MPS will be attempting to deliver a device to households in need by April 17, 2020.

Resources for students and families
Tuesday, March 24, 2020 2:25 PM

These are difficult times for families, and we at the FAIR School want to do whatever we can to make sure you have the tools you need. To that end, we want to share three resources you might find helpful.

United Way 2-1-1 is a useful general resource, while the other two on this list are most helpful to people experiencing homelessness.

1. United Way 2-1-1. Just dial the number 211 on your phone number to connect. This free hotline provides confidential health and human services information to Minnesotans.

It's open 24 hours per day, 7 days per week — whether you're in a big crisis or just need small support, you can call or text with a highly trained specialist who will help connect you with the right resources.

Operators are available in English, Spanish, and Hmong.

Visit United Way's website for more information about accessing the hotline, and for their online resource directory.

2. Online information directory. Youth Services Network has the most up-to-date information on shelter openings, free food, toiletries, mental health, jobs and more.

Check out their website for an in-depth directory of resources.

3. Handbook of the Streets. St. Stephen's Human Services offers a free book full of helpful information. You can get a copy of the handbook in person or online.

Per the organization's website, "People experiencing homelessness may get a free copy by coming to our main office (2309 Nicollet Avenue, Minneapolis 55404, 8:30AM-4PM Mon-Fri)."

You can also download free PDF copies on St. Stephen's webiste:

Yearbook team needs your photos

The following is a call to action from the FAIR Yearbook Team:

Hello FAIRNATION!

We are hard at work on the 2019-2020 Yearbook. We’ve made significant progress but we’re at the point now where we need your help. We’ve created 2 Google Forms so that you can submit content to be added to the Yearbook! Follow the instructions below to make your contribution.

For safety and quality you must be signed into your district Google account to make any contributions.

If families have content that they are able to submit, please either share it with your student so they can submit it or email it directly to zackaria.antar@mpls.k12.mn.us.

Once you are signed in, click on the hyperlinked text to submit your Senior Pictures and Baby Pictures in addition to any other photos you want included from this year like Projects, Activities, Concerts, Field Trips, or Candid Photos!

After that, go and vote for who you think is most likely to become president or win a gold medal using the Senior Superlatives Google Form!

Can’t wait to see what you all looked like as babies! Thank you for your support!
