Get Involved

Why Should You Get Involved in High School?

It's simple. Howard Thurman, an author, philosopher, theologian, educator, and civil rights leader, once said, "Don’t ask what the world needs. Ask what makes you come alive, and go do it. Because what the world needs is people who have come alive.”

Perhaps a student gets involved to learn new things, meet new people, or develop new skills. Or, maybe the purpose is to build a resume or have a better chance for scholarships to help with college expenses. Whatever the reason, the action is simple. Get involved. It’s fun.

How Do You Become Involved?

1. FAIR+ Classes
FAIR+ classes enrich a student's education  through real-world experiences that align with an individual's needs, interests, and aspirations.  Through our FAIR + partnerships, a variety of classes create pathways to college, careers, and opportunities that develop skills for students.

2. Athletics
Athletics are organized in fall, winter, and spring seasons.

Sports Co-ops*
FAIR also participates in co-ops for students interested in a sport not listed above. If you have any questions please contact Kenny Maxey at 612.668.1060.

*All athletes must have a valid sports physical on file and eligibility forms completed before they can participate, no exceptions.

3. Extended Learning Time (ELT)
ELT is offered Monday - Thursday for all High School students.  School staff and University/College tutors are onsite to assist students in academic work. If a student attends ELT on a regular basis and stays until 4:45 pm, he/she may ride an After-School Matters bus. Students must register to ride a bus by using the form attached below. If a satellite bus stop is used, families are responsible for transportation from the stop to home.

4. Staying After
A student may occasionally stay after with a teacher, but he/she must provide their own transportation home.
